Monica Paez

ABOUT

Monica is a doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Sam Houston State University. She received both her Bachelors of Science in Psychology and Masters of Art in Clinical Psychology from Sam Houston State University. In her spare time, Monica loves to watch reality TV, paint, try new foods, and find fun Airbnbs to stay in when she travels the world.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

Monica is interested in factors contributing to perpetration and detection of harmful behavior. This includes areas such as sexual assault, discrimination, intimate partner violence, and other forms of overt and covert aggression. For her master's thesis, she investigated how personality is associated with perceptions of microaggressions. At the JEDI Lab, Monica is eager to work on research related to perceptions and detection of grooming and sexually aggressive behaviors, as well as understanding factors (e.g., personality) that alter one's ability to recognize harmful interpersonal acts.
